Cool Easy Characters to Dress Up as

It turns out, you don't have to take a trip to "The Happiest Place on Earth" just to see your favorite Disney characters IRL. You can come pretty close just by recreating their iconic looks on Halloween.

And one of the best parts is, all of their looks - for kids and adults - can be made with clothes you likely already have in your closet, creating the easiest homemade Halloween costume.

Like most Disney movies, these costumes have no age limit. You can create the perfect couples Halloween getup (think: Tangled's Rapunzel and Flynn Rider) regardless of how old you are. You can also seamlessly pull off a sweet family costume or form the cutest trio costume when you go the Disney route. Best of all, most of these costumes are also totally work appropriate.

Oh, and don't worry: If Disney villains are more appealing to you, we also have cool DIY interpretations of Cruella De Vil and Jafar.

Note: If you or your child intend to pay homage to a beloved Disney character (hint: Jasmine, Moana, etc.), take care to dress with sensitivity. Focus on costuming linked to a specific character, not general looks that have particular meaning to often-marginalized groups of people.

It really doesn't take too much effort to portray the young Ellie and Carl for Halloween this year. Both characters wore light yellow shirts. For Ellie, slip on a pair of overalls and if you can, make your own bottle cap pins with recycled bottle caps and safety pins. The only accessory you probably don't have for Carl is an aviator hat!

15. Princess Kida

23. College Mike Wazowski

30. Hiro Hamada

To dress like Big Hero 6's main protagonist, think of what a 13-year-old boy would wear in the 2000s: a white long sleeve layered under a red-shirt and blue hoodie. Extra points if you can draw the robot figure on his shirt.

31. Winnie the Pooh

This content is imported from Instagram. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

You can completely DIY Winnie the Pooh's costume, from his bear ears to his beloved jar of "hunny." Since the bear doesn't actually wear pants, you can swap in yellow jeans or a yellow skirt.

32. Forky

This content is imported from Instagram. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

33. Kristoff

36. Judy Hopps

This content is imported from Instagram. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

Layer a gray crop top over a blue oxford shirt and pair with some denim jeans. You'll likely have to shop for the accessories, like a fake cop badge and a large buckle belt.

37. Princess Ariel

38. Baby Yoda

This content is imported from Instagram. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

If you can't get hold of a Baby Yoda costume, you can DIY your own with a tan bathrobe and coffee mug and get the same effect. A green wig isn't necessary, but green ear tips help pull the costume together.

39. Olaf

Olaf's costume doesn't have to be big and bulky; instead, you can wear a completely white outfit and decorate it with three black pom-pom balls for Olaf's buttons. Use orange face paint to portray the nose, and play with blue frosty shadow on the eyes.

40. Jafar
